This thread gives you some options to show pictures of your own watch - http://breitlingsource.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=453

Photobucket accounts are free so you can use their server space.

The 820.4 on the Old World Jewelers piece is the model number - the 820 is similar to the 1450, but isn't the same model. The .4 is for gold filled.

The one on eBay would almost tempt me to buy it to be able to get the box and to have some spare parts for servicing / restoration work, depending on price of course. I wouldn't buy it without seeing the movement, and to be fair the 7736 is a fairly common movement so parts aren't too difficult to come by.

I just picked up one of the Old World Jewelers NOS Breitling chronographs, with the sticker on the back that says Ref. 820.4. Upon careful removal, I discovered the model reference to be 1451. SN: 1 435 711, so 1975 production year, it appears. Are the 820.4 and 1451 models synonymous? Also, imprinted on the bottom edge, is ""PLAQUE G 10 Y". What's the specific meaning of this engraving? Thanx!

Congratulation and thanks !

finally somebody peeled off that stupid sticker (I was never brave enough to remove mine) and proves what I thought: the model no. under that "Long Plaing" sticker is 1451, not 820.4! Did somebody ever see this watch with the 820.4 engraving ?
"plaque" means "gold plated", 10Y stands for 10 micron plating.

I just used a hair dryer to warm up the glue on the sticker. After about a minute, it easily slid off the back of the watch, using my thumb. I was particularly interested in getting access to the serial number, but was a bit surprised to see the 1451 model reference. I've 2 Breitling 1450s, from the same (1975) model year, so it's fine with me! :)

I paid about $100, for my first 1450, when I bought it new.

Re: 270.-- on the 820.4 label...
would that be USD, or Swiss Francs?

I paid £21 for my Chrono in 1965 - I keep asking myself why didn't I buy a load of Navtimers at same time - simple reason was £21 was 10 times my weekly income - I couldn't afford it then and can't afford it now.

My Mom and Dad gave me the money to buy it for my 21st :)

Would the "B" winder crown, and chronograph pushers also be gold-plated on this watch?

Interesting hearing the prices back then. My 815.3 (SN 1 435 035) cost me £48 in 1975.

FYI, I did find a few old listings for the 820.4/1451, that suggest the 270.-- price on the factory sticker to be Swiss Francs (CHF), not USD.

Here's one such reference:

Karl, I would assume they are plated 18k, because plating color is very close to the case plaringnon the NOS 820-1451 ?

thanks for the currency verification.

Here's the 1451/820.4, fitted with the Rouleaux 101D bracelet.
