I think everyone has seen this SuperOcean MK1 one pop-up on ebay the last year and about 2 months ago I finally pulled the trigger and bought it .
Today I was offered the dial , chapter ring , handset, pushers , bezel and clip , all pieces in NOS or mint condition and I also ordered a revision set for the movement to complete it

So now I am waiting for the pieces to arrive and hopefully Chronodeco has some time to work on this for me ?

anyway here's the project watch , which come with an unusual Original Breitling strap , looks leather but might be rubber ?

Then earlier today I unexpectedly bought this AVI with unusual bezel for an unexpectedly acceptable price , complete with papers and supposedly Original (bought 2 years after the initial watch purchase) mesh bracelet

the watch was bought 01.Feb.1968. Papers from 'Wedding' in Berlin come with the watch . And also invoice for the bracelet that was bought 08.Nov.1969

I will post more pics when I receive the watch but I wanted to share this as I am quite excited with both :-)

congrats on the AVI, Dracha, hesitated to bid more because of the surprising bezel ring and the bad pics of the caseback. at least a forum member bought it, pls post good pics of the back cover when you have it in your hands, so I'll know how stupid I was ....

Maybe this helps Fred ? :-)

the bezel was used on this model but you dont see them much. Mostly you see the polished or black bezels but this one is correct as well. And I am really curious about the bracelet as Ive seen comments before that there are no original Breitling Mesh bracelets

Very nice indeed Dracha - can't wait to see it after Craig does his magic.

I am curious as to why you think that bezel is correct on the AVI. The AVI is probably from 1964-66 and that style bezel, to the best of my knowledge, was used starting in late 1968 on the ref 2010 & 2110. It is the same size so would work on the AVI. If you've found some reference to suggest that it was used, or an option, on the AVI, please elaborate.

Thanks.

I saw several discussions on other fora , even some french fora where they had the AVI with this bezel en some even with 2 bezels , this one and a black one , so I always assumed it as correct
here's http://cda.chronomania.net/forum_entry.php?id=18229&PHPSESSID=7fd345242be30cff7f877852f178c5e4 one , i'll see if I can find the others

Also the invoice dates this watch to 1968 so that seems correct as well

And if the bezel is incorrect for this watch, its easily replaced for a black one :D

In the late 60ies the Co-Pilots and AVI's were available with a choice of bezels
even though not specifically named I assume the one of the far right might be available with double graduated scale bezel ?

Never seen an AVI later than 1966. I think they were all Copilot's after 1966. An invoice really has no bearing on when the watch was made, just when it was sold. What year does the serial number on the watch indicate? I had a 1965 Copilot that came with the steel bezel mounted on it and a new black bezel as a spare.

I will let you know the serial as soon as I get the watch (next week I think)

btw , the 2110 bezel is , diameter out: 39,96mm, diameter in: 33,70mm
http://www.watchesulike.com/en/breitlin ... -2932.html

and the spare AVI bezel I have is (just measured) diameter out: 44,5mm, diameter in: 42 mm

so if the size from that website is OK , and the bezel I have is OK these bezels from a 2110 and a 765 are not interchangeable ?

2110 bezel dimensions (just measured) are correct, definitely not interchangeable w/ the AVI

Looks like everyone jumped on this one before I wanted to ask the same questions... :)

Never seen it before on the AVI either...

You're correct. I think I was thinking about the Pult/Bullhead which is a little larger. It just seems like a later style bezel on an earlier style watch to me but always willing to accept something new if it comes with some palatable provenance.

our great source on Vintage SuperOcean parts , Lester in the UK, came through for me with the parts :D
hopefully the watch itself will get here soon as well so I can get a nice parcel together for Craig

As you can see I received the following

NOS Dial + chapter ring
service kit
set of new hands
bezel (looks much better than the one currently with the watch)
plexi

this should make a great watch once its finished , last year I even bought an original 22mm tropic dive strap from him , so that will nicely compliment the watch together with the original instructions I received from Lester as well
