Post subject:  The M1 Regatta dial - is it really necessary??

Playing around with my CA M1 today, I pulled out the crown 1 click and pressed button 'B' to move the other large chrono hand around to the Regatta markings:

If the other M1 without Regatta markings has the same movement - B73 - surely this can also be done with the other large hand?

Therefore, does the Regatta dial make any difference to counting down from a set time? A little bit more legible perhaps, but anyone can count down 10 mins on a dial !

Marketing 101 - Market Segmentation. A few spots of paint and a pilot's watch becomes a yachting watch!

eg How many men do you know with a pink phone? And how may women? Most people buy image, not function.
