ok, I own rolex and breitling, 3 rolex, 2 tudor and 1 breitling.
I only own my superocean for 3 month (it's 9 years old) now and I can only say it runs great.
I own my oldest rolex for 21 years and it runs great, never had a service.

Thank God for that, I felt so alone...

lol, i will do you one better, i don`t even own ONE breit... Hold on, i`m between breits at the moment :-)

I´ve owned several of both however and own 1 rollie at the moment. I`m a real watch lover and wouldn`t even consider for a moment sticking with one brand, too much great watches out there to miss out on. I`m a bit of a horological prostitute, i know.

Rolex vs Breit vs IWC vs Panerai... so on. They all are stigmatized in their own way, Rolex, a brand for old tanned single watch owners from Florida. Breits, a brand for posers that wan`t their watch to look as expensive as possible without it actually being expensive at all. And Pams? Don`t get me started, the company that acts like an empty nightclub with a kilometer long line outside, desperately trying to inflate the reputation.

All brands can be criticized for something, yet i love them all. All these brands have earned their stripes and has taken a place in watch history with great presence and result, what`s the point of criticizing?

The Seadweller, Yellow Emergency, Fiddy, Big Pilot, Speedmaster (insert favorite models)... all pieces of history, all equally untouchable.

Am I the only one here that likes both Breitling and Rolex and also owns a watch of each ???

Nope, I like them both. I have 3 Breitlings with 1 more on the way and 2 Rolexes. I like all kinds of brands. I do prefer some more than others, but at the end of the day I will buy whatever smiles at me. Breitling has smiled at me the most, but there are some models I dont like. Rolex has only smiled at me a few times, but they also have some very classic and timeless watches. At the end of the day I like Breitling the most, but thats not going to stop me from pulling the trigger on an Omega or Rolex or IWC or whoever.

I do still own a rolex presidental from my grandfather. Really never wear it. Even before I bought my first Breitling I never really wore it, wore a Sector instead. It was excedingly well cared for and looks nearly new. Perhaps one of the things that I find least appealing is that it could be new. Looks exactly the same. Some will argue the "classic" nature of it, but to be honest, "dated" would seem more fitting to me. All of the other points have been raised. It is very much a matter of taste, as I hope I have indicated. The remaining issues are largely a push. Come this year, the Rolex droolers will no longer to be able to make themselves feel better with the in house movement line anymore either. They will have to find another reason for their inflated price, elderly gentleman's watch. But I am sure their mother's will think them very accomplished. :nana:  :lingsrock:
