New to this forum, looking to get my first breitling in the near future. Have my eye set on the superocean 42, was hoping some of you folks could point me in the right direction in terms of whether i should go new or used? My budget is around 3k however if possible would like to spend a little less. All feedback would be greatly appreciated im 25 years old and want to get my first "big boy" watch!!!

Get a used one if it's your first one....new ones are going to cost more than 3k. I've owned 4 breitlings (2 new and 2 bought used). No problems with any of them. Currently I wear my chrono avenger (used..10 years old) more than my super avenger (new...2 years old). Breitlings are built to last...happy hunting:)

Well you haven't said where you are, but if you are in the US then contact one of the forum sponsors - contact jnelson3097 for Govbergs or FEAR for Provident. For used, eBay is obviously the biggest market, but there are also the sales sections of the forum. Also, if you don't go with an AD then I would check in the replica section here first to make sure that there are no problems.

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

Yes as Roff stated, the fakes for this model are particularly good so make due diligence and make sure you're getting the real deal.

I just bought a Superocean 42 a few months ago too. I'm 20 and it was my first good watch also. I bought mine from the gray-market dealer Jomashop, but if I had to do it over again I would buy from an authorized dealer. If you're looking at a used one, the fake ones are hard to notice, but I think the following article is useful, as it compares a fake Superocean 42 to a real:
http://thewatch.watchfinder.co.uk/the-insider/the-truth-about-fakes

I think the Superocean is a really nice watch (the way the face reflects light is just beautiful), good luck on your search.
