Post subject:  And...I'm out...

I just shipped off my Navi 01. For the first time in a long time, I no longer own any lings. I'm not sure I will again soon. Most of what they are putting out doesn't really appeal to me. The Navi 01 was nice, but too small for me. Perhaps if/when they do an in-house version of the Navi World I'll be back.

But with the way they are raising prices, maybe not. The quality and finish just doesn't put them in the $10k+ range.

Wow! I have been away for a while - Sorry to see you go dhalem!

Maybe one day you'll be lured back... Wish I had known the Navi 01 was headed out the door.

Congrats on your sale Dan. That was a real beauty. Hope you can find another to lure you back. Until then, I'll see you on the "boards".

Cheers,

Don

Yip, sorry to see you go too, you've had some fantastic Breitlings come and go over the past 2-3 year!

Cheers

You might be without a ling, but you have picked up some seriously beautiful watches lately.

I understand your position with Breitling...a few months ago I had 3 of them, and now I am barely holding onto one. It will be on the way out soon, but I will most likely replace it with an Evo since they have been discontinued and will not be available new for long. After that...there really isn't anything that they currently offer that I am drawn to. Their pricing strategy isn't helping their situation with me either.

I must be very lucky . I also feel that the new models aren't anything I would buy , and I don't like the direction that Breitling is taking but I would never contemplate selling any of the Breitlings I currently own . They were great pieces when I bought them and they always will be .

dhalem hope to still see you on the boards. i know what you mean though with the price increases breitling is not that appealing. considering what else can be had for the similar pricing. it use to be that you could buy a breitling and feel good knowing that you saved thousands of dollars when compared to their competitors and you were wearing a aesthetically well designed time piece. now it seems you spend thousands more on something that looks like it came out of a cracker jack box.

i really hope something happens and some of the shot callers at breitling get fired. and they start building watches that look good again.

I hear ya and I agree with ya. I've had 16 lings over the past two years and I'm down to my final one, My 3 month old CSO and that may be going up for sale any day now. I no longer have any interest in the brand that brought me into this crazy watch hobby. Who needs a ling when you have 4 Jaegers, BP, ROO, and Pam. Your collection is crazy so I don't think you will miss the lings!

I'm a firm believer in that these things go in phases. I think Breitling will alter its course again in time, and we'll see how they handle everybody's unhappiness at the cost of the in-house movements. I also still believe that the size explosion will calm down too for people with under-8 inch wrists. One obvious development is that people seem to be looking at higher-dollar Breitlings and determining it's now worth looking at a JLC, for example. As for me, the Navi Heritage I finally found is monopolizing my wrist time.

Enjoying what you have is the most important thing, and it sounds like you have a lot to enjoy. This board is a great community, uniquely so for non-Breitlings, so hopefully you'll stick around.

These things go in "phases" for a company like Breitling because it doesn't know how to lead in the industry. Look at a competitor like Rolex. I don't see Rolex offering 8 new watches with a bunch of different colors, rubber bezels, and 44mm+ timepieces. Rolex has maintained its course and moves forward making changes when it makes sense to make changes. Over the last few years, Breitling has been chasing fads and has done a huge disservice to the brand.

I'm glad I bought my BlackBird when I did because if I were to discover Breitling today, I would more than likely not give the brand a second glance. It saddens me that a Breitling is what originally lured me into my love of watches and now I won't even consider buying a new model.
