Post subject:  Sicura?

I was looking at some Breitlings on a famous on-line auction site and the name Sicura Breitling kept coming up.

Could somebody please explain who they are and what their association to Breitling is.

They seem to make some nice looking vintage watches.

Thanks in advance.

Not really a connection, but kinda.

Sicura was the company that Ernst Schneider ran when he bought the rights to the Breitling name. Initially he ran both Sicura and Breitling, but over time he killed Sicura off and focused solely on Breitling.

Thanks Prof.

That's brilliant info.

So, are the Sicura watches any good?

They don't seem to fetch much on internet auction sites.

In answer to your question the simple answer is NO, Most used cheap pin pallet movements and are not very good, However they did make a few lovley ones with good movements.
this is the ultimate Sicura

NOS Sicura Chronographe with Lemania 873 same as the Omega calibre 1041 I believe...black dial with raised markers...rotating inner bezel...cross-hatched original crowns...42mm case with polished sides and brushed top....just a stunning watch...priced at $1950 plus shipping...if this was branded Omega, it would fetch almost double! Reasonable offers considered... Thanks! Michael

They aren't anything particularly special as Swiss watches go, but they are still Swiss watches, so not awful by any means.
