Bit of a teaser.

My new strap arrived this morning.
Qs. What is it made of? What is slightly unusual about it?

Well I think it's Avian and from the legs, so I'm going to go with turkey skin!

Looks like Ostrich to me, and it's cut across the leg rather than down it so that you have the small 'scales' of the leg and the larger ones of the shin.

YepI'd say it's definitely ostrich and it's cut from the shin skin too.

Not sure what's unusual about it though (other than teh skin of course)...... :huh Lack of taper perhaps?

I was assuming that the unusual part was the cross cut to get the two different textures.

Ostrich it is and cut as you mentioned.

Now the other question......Driver8 is 'narrowing it down'.

Now forget the material and look for the really unusual thing about it.

Hint: you will need a very finely detailed eye.

seems one strap is wider than the other at the pin end, and no holes for buckle

That's because it's for deployant.

Tough to see Alan, but is it wrapped around itself - effectively double sided??

Only other thing that I can see is the stitching, but don't see anything obviously unusual there.

I don't know if it's unusual or not, I'm a rookie here, but does the shorter one have a place for the pin at both ends?

I don't know how we were supposed to guess that but it sure does look awesome.

Hi Roman,

Thank you for the comp.

The difference is that the south side of the UTC module is narrower than the north (watch head) side (a couple of sharp eyed guys noticed the 2mm difference). In this case on the BB the interlug is 22mm but the southside of the UTC module is 20mm. (Not all UTC modules are the same, they differ dependant on the watch head model).

So, this strap has a north 22mm and a south 20mm with adjusted lengths to accomidate the UTC.
Not an easy strap to get hold of (and if you had not encountered a UTC how would you notice, and I mean this with all respect (I could have been a contender you know)).

I designed the strap to meet my wrist wearing of Breitlings which is unusual I'm told being on the inside left wrist.
This was custom made by a great outfit in Paris.

Good weekend to us all.
