Hey guys

My AD had called me last night to tell me that my Omega, which had gone back for repairs 3 times, had finally come back in from servicing. (It had spent more time getting repaired than it did on my wrist!) Im not sure why, but Omega has included all the damaged parts they had replaced when they sent it back. I have been wearing the watch all day so far and no complaints.

While I was there I decided to get a price quote from him for a Breitling Avenger Skyland. After calling his other store which carries the Breitling line and speaking with someone there he told me he could do any color dial with a stainless steel pro 2 bracelet for $2800.00 (US Dollars)

I was wondering if this a competitive price for the market right now. I know he had mentioned the watch retailed for close to $4000.

Any insight you could provide would be helpful. Thanks.

I would say thats a pretty substantial discount (about 30%) as long as its on the bracelet... most ADs offer around 20% as the norm from what I have gleaned.

Some of the ADs in Chicago sell to quite a few Europeans on holiday, which they can sell to at close to full price (as Forex already gives them a huge 'effective' discount). That can affect how determined the AD is to sell to you and not just hold out for the next Lufthansa flight.

I also think that an AD's proximity to other ADs influences their discounts as well. One AD in Columbus, OH would generally offer 10% (if you paid cash) and would only offer 20% off at their annual watch event. The closest AD to them is 100 miles away, so I think they held a little more power in that regard.

30% off seems like a pretty good deal

Last week when I negotiated the price on a Navitimer I was told by one small chain of ADs in my city that if another AD is selling at more than a 15% discount they have to inform Breitling of the action of other jewelers! They also said they wanted to make sure it was an AD. I didn't really believe them but have heard getting 15% off MSRP is very easy (the small chain offered 15% off without any negotiation!) any more than that is quite tough going. In the end we went to another AD, who happens to be my wife's family jeweler and friend and got 20% off. :)

In the UK I managed to only get 10% off and that was paying cash (I prefer credit cards because of frequent flyer miles earning), then again the watch was the only one of its kind in the UK at the time. Couldn't really complain!

Thanks for the help guys. Now I'm thinking I would be insane not to jump on this.

Yeah I made sure to ask him if that included the bracelet and if I could get any color. I wanted to make sure he wasnt trying to push a watch that had been sitting in the showcase for awhile.

I havent seen the watch in person yet, but from the Breitling's website, and the pictures you guys have posted it looks awesome. My AD had said when you see it in person its very sharp.

Def gonna move on it, prob with a blue face.

Again thanks for the help, I'll post pics when I get it.

I know that watch retails for $3920.00 before tax. The prices here in Canada are exactly the same as in the US, dollar amount. That is over 25%. I would certainly go for that if I was you.
Cheers,
Carl
